Life as a Retiree

Having retired on September 20' 2013, it has taken 3 1/2 months for me to realize that I'm really retired. It's OK if I'm not productive, if I sleep late or just play with the dogs. I did spend two glorious weeks at Pawleys Island in October, returned to help a friend paint a couple of rooms in her house, and then set up my art studio. I painted the walls first, and I think I finally have things organized.

I did a small (5x7) painting for my sister-in-law that she requested for Christmas. It wasn't that great, but it's been almost two years since I painted.  I enjoyed the day I painted, and it made me realize how much I missed painting. I also realized how much I need to learn, so I'm learning and practicing the things I should have done years ago.  My weaknesses include "really seeing," perspective, color theory and patience. My goal is to build these skills enough that I can apply the lessons I plan to resume
later this year.
